Commercial Construction Client Testimonials

”Blue Water have great project management experience and get things done. Yes, there will be delays like any construction work as there are surprises. But at the end, we do end up with high quality work, done properly, with top subcontractors and a smile on everyone’s faces. The people working on site were very positive and working just like if it was for them. That’s already something very rare these days.” – Jean-Paul Paloux, Specialized Showroom in Squamish

Mike, Dane Kyle and Kayla are the team for any commercial project you might need help with!  From design to build out, and every detail in between, they made the process seamless and solved problems along the way making it possible for me to step away from the leasehold improvements and focus on getting my business up and running. They worked with reliable trades and put in the extra effort to meet deadlines that were crucial to getting our doors open!  If you are in the market for a contractor to help you with a leasehold improvement or commercial project pick up the phone and give them a call, you won’t be disappointed.” – Martha McAvity, Peak Provisions Mountain Grocery & Goods

Mike and the Blue Water Concepts team did a fantastic job on the commercial build out of our health clinic. We have had numerous compliments from our patients about the space they now come to for treatments, and we couldn’t be happier!  We had met with two other contractors before Mike. They were professional and had similar budgets and fundamentals to advise us on, but Mike was very genuine in asking what our vision was right from the start, and he was both optimistic and realistic about how to reach our goal. We had an old building to revitalize, and he problem solved our environmental assessment needs right from the start. His team member Kayla was superb in taking our sketches and creating our overall design/layout, Mike researched the best mechanical solutions for our ventilation/thermal comfort, (which was at the heart of the project), and Paul advised us on materials and provided a budget that we could work with. Any concerns we had were prioritized and dealt with in the most efficient and professional manner, and Mike and our Project Manager Jason were responsive to all communication.  We were impressed with the various trades that Mike and Jason employed for the build and have referred others to their services as well.  We would like to thank Mike and his team at Blue Water Concepts for taking on this project and turning out exactly what we had imagined, a workplace that is light, bright, airy, and clean.

Our Commercial Construction Projects

LivWell – Integrated Health operates out of what used to be the old Sears building in downtown Squamish. By working closely with the client, our design team was able to determine how to meet their important list of needs while also making the best use of the space.

This new build project included an office, general store, and washroom facilities that needed to be durable yet harmonious with the campground’s beautiful natural surroundings. As a result, cedar and other natural wood were central in the project’s design.

The Specialized Squamish Experience Centre is a project that beautifully showcases our custom design work as well as the many high-performance bikes available to rent or purchase. From the bike racks to the stunning Tantalus mountain range feature wall, virtually every element of this project was designed and built by the Blue Water Concepts team.

This project involved bringing a strong, existing brand to life in a brand-new commercial unit. By working with Steve to refine his existing project design, we created a unique final design that was still on-brand with his chain of restaurants.

This project brought a much-needed niche grocer and delicatessen to the downtown core of Squamish. With the client coming from a food and beverage background, the concept was well-developed with a lot of inspiration from traditional European delis and grocers. Our designers maintained the client’s vision while developing the concept into a unique and functional space for her business, which is now a popular breakfast and lunch go-to in Squamish.

Commercial Construction FAQs

What does the process look like for commercial construction? What is the timeline like?

  • Our process begins with an initial site meeting where we go through your project vision, followed by an overview of estimated costs for the project where we present clients with a Class-D budget, which then leads into full design services, detailed project costing, permit application and material selection. From there the project moves into production where our team of experts takes your project off paper and into reality. Our regular budget reviews keep clients informed along the way so they have a transparent view and full control over decisions made on their project. The timeline of commercial construction services can vary widely depending on a number of factors, including the size and scope of the project, the location, the materials and labor used, and the complexity of the design. Contact us for a detailed estimate to understand the process and timeline for your specific project.

What permits and approvals are needed for a commercial construction project?

  • In British Columbia, the permits and approvals required for a commercial construction project vary depending on the location and scope of the project. However, some common permits and approvals that may be needed in BC include building permits, development permits, zoning and fire code permits, environmental permits, occupancy permits, sign permits, and so forth. At Blue Water Concepts, we’re happy to provide you with a list of permits required for your construction project.
