The Paradise Valley Campground Office, General Store + Washroom Facility Project:

The Office + General Store:

The idea was to keep the existing site office/store and incorporate it into the new space to create a larger, more functional area.

The new space would be designed and built onto and to match the existing building.

So, cedar board and batten siding, galvanized standing seam metal roofing, and lots of natural wood were all incorporated into the design.

The building needed to be durable as the campground sees thousands of visitors every summer. It also needed to be functional; it was helpful that the owners knew their business well and how people use the existing spaces. We used these details to design based on how people flow throughout the campground.

The Washroom Facility:

It needed to include; four showers with change rooms, five water closets and three outdoor washbasins for camp dishes.

Our clients wanted the new building to blend in with the natural surroundings and what was already built on-site; this meant – CEDAR, CEDAR, CEDAR! There was a ton of cedar used on this project which is always enjoyable to work with.

The washroom facility was built in the secondary flood zone, which meant we had to work with the structural engineering team to ensure the foundation and wall framing was designed and constructed in such a way that it could withstand a very high powerful flood – the washroom facility might be the safest place in Paradise valley to be if a flood happens.

We absolutely loved being able to utilize local resources and business throughout this project as much as possible.
