Major Renovation: Kintyre

Date:

Location:

This was a back to the studs inside and out major renovation of a house on Kintyre Drive here in Squamish. Energy efficiency was a major focus for our client on this project. We installed 1.5″ of exterior insulation along with a very well-detailed air barrier strategy. We took this building from an air tightness of 7.89ACH pre-renovation to a final air tightness score of below 1ACH. Which means it is very easy to keep warm in the winter and cool in the summer. New windows and a new heat pump all make this building a very, very efficient house.

Our in-house design team worked with our clients to ensure this house had everything this young family wanted in a newly renovated home. We ripped out the old pool and installed a new one with an automated cover for safety and efficiency. Outdoor living space was crucial to them, and the flow from inside to outside for entertaining was key.

We removed some interior walls upstairs and really opened up the kitchen and living room. With larger windows looking out onto the backyard oasis and a multi-panel sliding door, the modern minimalist kitchen flows perfectly out onto the covered deck space and into the backyard. Complete with a climbing wall with anchors bolted into the ceiling, this house is a true Squamish dream.
