Our Faith Road Carriage house is an incredibly liveable small building with incredible views on a corner lot in Brackendale. Our clients originally came to us wanting to design and build a very functional carriage house for them to move into and were curious about designing it to meet Passive House Standards.
We went through a preliminary design phase with them and decided as a group that their priorities and budget aligned well with building an incredibly efficient building, but not going for the full Passive House certification. On this project we opted to go for ICF (insulated concrete forms) right up to the roof rafters giving us an R-40 wall system throughout the entire building. This building is super well-built and will be incredibly comfortable!
With Squamish getting an incredible amount of rain each year, covered outdoor living space was important. We also wanted to ensure this building didn’t overheat in the summer, so large overhangs and privacy screens facing West will help in the high summer sun. The views are incredible from this lot, so window and patio door placement was key for capturing these throughout the year.
The interior of this space is as beautiful and clean as the exterior. With areas designed specifically to work from home, and others to be able to host friends and family when they visit this building really is designed and built specifically for our client’s lifestyle.

What The Client Is Saying
We worked with BWC to design a stunning ‘laneway home’ that showcased how unique one can be. This home was designed with the intention of being our forever home, which meant we could get creative with the design, but also build an energy efficient home. From the design phase, through to construction, and onto finishing, the BWC crew were an absolute joy to partner with. I have never seen such efficient project management and high attention to building and finishing detail.
It’s obvious that BWC has a great and healthy workplace culture; the crew always seemed to have so much fun on-site, which translated into care, attention, and a well-built home. I loved seeing how proud they were of the work completed.
